They\u2019re teaching stories that dramatize our expanded understanding of the brain and self. That said, a lot of the neuro-imaging stuff is overrated, and the media\u2019s obsession &#8212; and I am also guilty of this &#8212; our obsession with pairing aspects of human life with bits of the brain (\u201cthe God module\u201d etc) can get ridiculous. That\u2019s why I still like Freud.
